Snippets & Sparkle

I loved the simple sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch this week but I also wanted to go over & join the fun in the Snippet Playground. With this card I’ve managed to do both, and as it’s a birthday card I’ll enter it into the challenge over at CASology, too, where the cue card is “Birthday”.

The snippet of paper has been in my stash for ages, I’m not sure of the maker. You can’t see it in the photo but I added a touch of Wink of Stella sparkle to some of the stripes. The chipboard flowers have also been in my stash for years; I painted them with a couple of coats of gesso then once that had dried, coloured them with Mulberry Promarker. I found some Crackle Accents and decided to see what that looked like, so here’s a close-up:

To be honest the flowers didn’t turn out as I’d imagined at all but I really quite like them – I think they look a bit weird in the photo but trust me, they look much better in real life!

The greeting by Clearly Besotted was stamped in Memento Lulu Lavender, and the Happy Birthday was given the Wink of Stella treatment, too.

Sweet Sunday Sketch

I needed a quick card & I liked the sketch over at Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge, coming up with this:

The card base was from my stash; the patterned paper is from the Teresa Collins Urban Market pad, and the stamps were by Papertrey Ink & Paula Pascual  for Personal Impressions, inked up in Memento Paris Dusk. The embossing folder is by Papermania.

New Beginnings

The challenge over at Less is More this week is “New Beginnings” & as some stress-relieving crafting was required I put my thinking cap on. This is what I came up with:

The words were computer-generated; the butterfly stamp is by Papermania & the buddleia stamp is by Unity Stamps, coloured using Cotman watercolours with a very pale watercolour sky to set the scene.

Best Dad!

Another card for my husband’s birthday tomorrow, and this time I decided to play along over at Stamplorations as I really liked the current sketch. A really simple card, and very quick to do.

Card recipe:
Cardstock – Limetree Crafts, Crafters Companion Kraft
Stamps – Papremania, Woodware, Kirsty Wiseman for Personal Impressions
Inks – Memento Rich Cocoa
Promarkers – Promarker Caramel
Embossing folder – Sizzix Alterations Wood Planks
Screw brads – Creative Expressions

Golden Oldie

It’s my husband’s birthday on Sunday but as he never looks at my blog I’m quite safe to post his card here! A looming Ofsted inspection at the school where I’m a Governor has kept me too busy to craft just lately so I decided to stick to quite a simple card, although it seemed to take a long time to put together. The “record” consists of simple Spellbinders circles cut on my Cuttlebug and is in fact a pocket, in which I’ll be putting some tickets to a concert I’ve bought him tickets for – if they arrive in time!

The notes were either cut on my Sizzix Eclips or stamped in Memento Lady Bug. The black sentiment using Anna Marie stamps was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black, the “golden oldie” was cut in gold mirri card on my Eclips using Penultimate Light.

I’m hoping I’m not too late to enter this into this week’s challenge over at Less is More where the theme is black, metallic & one.
