NBUS #8

Front of card

The theme for this fortnight over at Darnell’s NBUS Challenge (NBUS=Never-Before-Used =-Schtuff!!) is coloured pencils on kraft. I bought some cheap coloured pencils from W H Smith a long, long time ago when they were in the sale, and they’ve languished unloved in a drawer ever since.

I’ve spent pretty much all my crafting time since Christmas re-cataloguing my clear stamp collection so I decided to have a go at the challenge as a break from the monotony. I’m not entirely happy with the result – maybe that’s what you get when you use cheap pencils! – but from a distance it’s not too bad;-) I didn’t use any blending fluid, I wasn’t sure how well it would work on kraft, and in any case I couldn’t find it!  Here’s the close-up so you can see what I mean:

  1. I think your pencil coloring looks great (but then I’m not very skillful with pencils at all, whether it be the less expensive ones or the more costly). I think your soccer ball and the red shoes are colored very well, and look super on the kraft cardstock. I believe Darnell will say this too! And I know she will be delighted that you joined in with NBUS #8! Good job. and good for you are organizing your stash as well! TFS & Hugs (and thanks for your recent visit too!)

  2. I’m glad I came along with my surprise challenge to break up the monotony for you, Helen! (But how great it will be when you get all your cataloging done!) I think you did a great job coloring this fun soccer-loving person’s birthday card with colored pencils! It looks great on the kraft paper! I didn’t do blending on my card either, but I do want to try using the stumps and Gamsol with the pencils like some of the card artists have done – just so I can get the whole experience. Thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #8! Hugs, Darnell
