I’ve only got time for one hobby at the moment and for the last couple of months that’s been sewing, although I haven’t got much to show for it yet. I still enjoy card making when I get chance, and made this card recently which I’m going to enter into this month’s challenge at Stamping Sensations. The theme is “Anything with Flowers”, and the main image must be stamped, for obvious reasons. Well, there are flowers aplenty on the front of this card, all individually stamped.
I took my inspiration from this card but adapted it using stamps from various sets including Paula Pascual & Banana Frog (sadly no longer trading), inked in various brands/colours of inks. The die cut word is by Mama Elephant, cut in normal cardstock then glossed with Anita’s Clear Gloss, and the birthday greeting is by Clearly Besotted. I then added a few gems for the obligatory bling!
Another card made by “shopping my stash”, which is forcing me to be more creative and I’m loving it! The background is the result of playing with Winsor & Newton watercolour paints on Crafters Companion watercolour card, inspired by this card created by Heather Telford. I painted a few fine lines with ArtQuest Micacolor paints, which I’ve had for years but hardly ever used.
The layout is based on this sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. I stamped the Indigo Blu butterfly in Versamark & embossed it with Wow! silver embossing powder, then cut the frame by hand from American Crafts cardstock. The greeting (by Paula Pascual) was stamped onto parchment paper in Versamark, then Memento Grape Jelly, so I could emboss it with Stampendous detail clear powder.I added a few sequins to hide the glue holding the parchment paper in place. I also added a little bit of glue behind the greeting.
Despite it being a very dull day, this card was VERY difficult to photograph! I’m also entering this into the following challenges:
It’s been a while since I did any crafting as I’m still playing nurse to my poorly husband whilst doing all the other usual stuff. But recently I treated myself to a set of 48 Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens so I made the time to have a play with them the other night. I started off by stamping one of the Clearly Besotted “Fresh Flowers” stamps onto an Inkylicious tag, then embossing it with Wow! Platinum Fine detail embossing powder. Out came the the brush pens, which blended really well on the art card as long as I worked quickly. Once I’d done that, I really didn’t know what to do next – my mojo hasn’t had much practice just lately!
Then I was inspired by this card by Michelle Short, one of my favourite card makers, so I decided to fussy cut the flowers instead of using the tag. Then I used my Sizzix Eclips to cut the numbers out of Reeves watercolour card. I made a card base out of more Reeves card, and used the same Zig pens to make a background behind the numbers; I found the watercolours didn’t blend well on this card at all as they dried very quickly.
The greeting, by Paula Pascual, was also embossed, along with a strip across the bottom of the card. This card is for my boss, who has been really understanding over my home situation & has allowed me to work from home, for which I consider myself to be very lucky!
