FMS #284

Front of card

Sketches always seem to be my inspiration for cards, and this week’s by Karren at Freshly Made Sketches is no exception. I’m sure I’ll be forgiven for modifying it slightly to suit the greeting I used. The papers have been in my stash for years – the pink is suede so adds a little bit extra “je ne sais quoi”.  The word dies are by Mama Elephant, and the numbers are by Die’sire.

Mojo Monday #493

Front of card

This card was for my Aunt’s 85th birthday yesterday; I wanted to use an image painted by my late father as I knew she would appreciate that. This week’s sketch at Mojo Monday was perfect to allow me to do that. I used some background paper and cardstock from my stash, and inked up a sentiment from Clearly Besotted.

Sorry the shot below is a little blurry, I’m still learning how to use my new camera!

Happy Easter!

Front of Easter card

A quick and simple card for Easter: the daffodil stamp & greeting are by Clearly Besotted, coloured with Promarkers & a mixture of cheap W H Smith pencils & Derwent Coloursoft, of which I only have a few. The “ribbon” at the back is one of the palms from Palm Sunday Mass last week. This was based on the sketch at challenge #218 at CAS Colours and Sketches, and I’m also entering into the Make Your Mark challenge at Addicted to Stamps.

60!

Front of card

My brother, the oldest of my siblings, turns 60 on Wednesday, and although I’m a few years behind him in age I’m finding it hard to get my head around any of us being so “old”! Anyway, my Mum asked me to make a card from her, to him, and the above is what I came up with.

The card is loosely based on this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches; my first attempt was much closer to the sketch but although other people’s cards look great with the greeting printed sideways, mine just didn’t look right so I had to do it again.  The stamps are from the Clearly Besotted Basic Numbers set, stamped in Memento New Sprout. The die cut letters are by Diamond Press.

The main image was painted by my late father so that, although he can’t be here to sign the card in person, this is the next best thing. I wanted the image to be the star so I kept the paper very low key.  Here’s a slightly closer image:

Snoozing Chap

tony_17_1

It’s a friend’s birthday next week, and I knew I wanted to use this digital stamp called “Snoozing Chap with Beer” from Digistamp Boutique. I coloured it with Promarkers and mounted it on a stitched square by Gummiapan. Then I used the sketch at Watercooler Wednesday,  some papers from my stash and finished with a diecut greeting by Your Next Stamp which was a recent purchase.
