CTS #223

Front of card

This card is for my nephew’s 25th birthday – where on earth did the years go? It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes since he was a toddler, sitting in the bath making up silly songs! Anyway it’s based on the sketch at Case This Sketch, albeit changed around a little bit to accommodate the partial die cutting I did for the greeting. This turned out to be way trickier than I thought it would be & involved lots of extra cutting with craft knife & scissors.  A bit of patterned paper & a Kaisercraft stamped image coloured with Promarkers finishes it off.

Three challenges in one this week: this card is based on sketch #142 at Tuesday Morning Sketches, where I almost forgot to enter it so this blog post is a bit rushed! I’m also entering it into the challenge at Stamping Sensations where this month’s theme is Butterflies, Fairies and Fantasy. I can’t do the last two, but this stamp by IndigoBlu certainly qualifies in the first category. And I hope this card is CAS enough for the challenge at Addicted to CAS where this week’s theme is Pink.

I stamped it in Versamark then embossed it in Wow! detail white embossing powder then spent a relaxing evening painting it with my Zig markers in Wine Red and Almond Pink, blending it out with water & a fine paintbrush. Once I’d done that I wasn’t quite sure how to finish it off – I tried to use patterned paper but despite having hundreds of sheets I couldn’t find any that worked!

So instead I stamped the greeting (from Clearly Besotted Brushed Greetings II) and embossed it again, then used the Piestra Tile die by Memory Box to add a little interest.

CAS Watercolour

Front of card

I came across a new (to me at least) watercolour challenge blog called CAS watercolour. As that’s one of my favourite colouring mediums, coupled with my favourite card-making style, I decided to enter this month’s challenge. This card is one I made earlier this month but hadn’t got around to featuring on my blog.

The flower image is by Clearly Besotted, painted in Windsor & Newton half-pan paints. The greeting stamp, embossed in Hero Arts embossing powder, and birthday die are also by Clearly Besotted. The number diecuts are by Die’sire, finished with Anita’s Clear Gloss. I kept the finished card simple with a few pearls.

FMS #285

Front of card

A last minute entry for Freshly Made Sketches this week with a card for my Mum, from my son – where the main image is one painted by my late father – talk about keeping it in the family! The picture is slightly skewed, sorry, I really wasn’t drunk when I took it.

I couldn’t find any matching backing paper for the shape at the back, so I decided to use a stencil by Imagination Crafts instead, carefully moving it around and stencilling in Hero Arts Soft Olive to make the background shape. The greeting was a mixture of stamps by Clearly Besotted, the “gran” being a “grandmother” stamp which I masked off to only use the first part.
